Pandora Summer Bracelets

Summers in Southern Ontario are hot and humid and wonderful.  I work as a manager of a Pandora Shop in Shop and truly love my job. I get to talk with amazing people every day who share some very personal and meaningful stories with me and I feel honoured to be part of those exchanges. I also get to play with beautiful jewellery and help customers to restyle and re-appreciate their collection of Pandora jewellery. I wear Pandora rings, earrings and necklaces and always, multiple bracelet at work each day. It’s easier for me to take photos of my bracelets than attempt to show my other jewellery in photos . If I were thirty years younger, I would attempt it!

For practical reasons, it helps me to show the different options of bracelets , and also ways to style them, but for personal reasons, it gives me so much pleasure to look upon them as I work. Summer brings out two impulses in me. I love brilliant, vibrant and intense colour combinations just as well as I love pale, cool and calm colours. Below is one of my favourite  vibrant combos which I posted on my Instagram account @sarinak23

Another combo full of colours which I love is the next one.

Pandora’s Spring and Summer Collections for this year feature both bold and bright colours as well as pale and romantic colours.  The new Shimmer Murano glass beads are pale and lovely to gaze upon. The craftsmanship in these beads is exemplary. The middle bracelet from below is my absolute favourite.

Next is my favourite purple combination so far this summer, but there are many weeks to go….

The pale and summery stack below is soft, romantic and full of marvellously,  detailed  beads.

The Flamingo bead in the centre of this stack is another brilliantly designed and crafted piece of jewellery.

These last two summer stacks also show the beautiful details and shimmering quality of Pandora beads.

I am so fond of Pandora beads and truly enjoy styling them and sharing my enthusiasm for them with customers and my wonderful, engaging followers and those whom I follow on Instagram.  Do you have a favourite Pandora bead? Happy summer 2017 everyone!

New Pandora Bangle

Here is a quick look at the newly released Pandora Bangle. I am very excited to have one at last and it is all I hoped for, and more. In comparison to the Trollbeads Bangle, which I already own and love, I find my new Pandora Bangle to be equally comfortable and beautiful.

It has always irked me that I cannot wear Trollbeads on my Pandora bangles and bracelet, as well as other brands with smaller cores than Pandora, as I can wear Pandora beads on Trollbeads bracelets.

The little stoppers with silicone interiors are similar to Trollbeads stoppers, and they slide on and off in the same way. With Pandora’s design, there is a clever end cap which is easily removed with a gentle push upwards and slight twist to one side. As there is no need for threads on the ends, the tips are now small enough to style Trollbeads, Summersday beads and other brands on these Pandora bangles.

@marthnickbeads asked me if the balls on the ends are comfortable on my wrist when resting on a surface, but, although I have only had one day to enjoy them, I have to say “yes”. The above photo also shows that the Trollbeads stoppers are almost twice as large as Pandora’s. Trollbeads stoppers do fit on the Pandora Bangle, but Pandora’s are too small to wear on the Trollbeads Bangle.

I have enjoyed interchanging different brands, Trollbeads, Pandora beads, Elfbeads, and Summersday beads on both bangles this evening.  For many years now, I have preferred wearing Pandora’s original Bangle with only one clip on it, secured in place with a silicone insert, or with just one bead and then one clip which matches the clasp, to hold the bead next to it. Now that look and feel which I enjoy, is much simpler and sleeker and I am delighted with the way it looks, with either one bead, or more.

I think it is so much fun to be able to mix more brands on different Bracelet options, making the combinations and stylings seemingly endless. Here are just a few I tried today.

The new bangles are available in three  sizes and two styles. The one which I chose and is featured in this post, is the plain one which retails at $85.Cdn and the other has endcaps which have pavé-set clear cubic zirconias. They’re also very beautiful and retail at $140. Can.

Let me know if you think you might add one to your collection, or if you have any questions about this new Pandora Bangle.

Passion for Purple and Green

My passion for the combination of greens and purples began in the sixties when my family moved to a new home and my Mum encouraged me to decorate my new room any way I chose, no restrictions. I chose a wallpaper which was brightly coloured purple tulips  with intense green leaves row upon relenting row, on a white background. I only had that bedroom for a couple of years, and seem to have always sought to recreate the spirit and vibrancy of that room ever since. This quest is easily captured in my choice of beads and combinations for my two Instagram accounts which are devoted to beads.

This photo is a blend of Pandora beads, Pandora Essence beads, Trollbeads and Elfbeads.

Here are my favourite new Summersday purple flowers and purple ribbon bead with two of my favourite Trollbeads ‘Mosaic’ beads.

The photo above is from my IG account @sarainak23 and is predominately devoted to Pandora beads and bracelets. The two silver flower beads with chalcedony flowers are the first Pandora beads I bought many years ago, and the Purple Field of Flowers Murano glass is one of my most recent purchases.

The addition of blue crystal beads is a way to soften and change the look of greens and purples together, as is turquoise.

The above is another of my favourite stacks of late, and I especially love the new green and purple enamel Hearts of Pandora bangles.

Here is one final photo which celebrates this love of colour combinations.

In my choice of fabrics for sewing and quilting projects, paints and wallpapers for decorating, flowers for my potted plants inside and outside and, for a shameful amount of my bead and jewellery collection, purples and greens abound.

A Summersday Beads Love Story

In September of last last year I received a parcel from my dear IG friend, Nicole. I have been following her account @trolli_mutz  for a long time, and have always admired her brilliant, whimsical photos and beautiful beads. My fancy was particularly caught by her Summersday beads. The centre bead above is a Trollbead and the outside two are Summersday beads, my first two, which she sent me as gift. That is when my passion for Birgit Landgraf’s beads became a minor obsession.

Summersday beads are made by Birgit Landgraf in Germany, where Nicole also lives. She told me that she has been making beads for 11 years. Two years ago she left her job with an insurance company, to become a full-time bead maker. Shortly after she began a bead making class, she saw Trollbeads in a store and she “fell in love immediately”! She describes herself as “totally hooked on working with hot glass”. I have been obsessed with hand-made, lamp-wound beads for a long time myself, as a collector, and I have fallen in love with her work. I love flower beads, and Birgit’s are my favourites in my collection.

In the photo below, the three centre beads are Summerday. They seem to work perfectly with with these Pandora beads.

I now own 27 of her beautiful creations, and she is currently making a few more for me. Nicole has given me seven Summersday beads and has helped foster my love affair with Birgit’s  beads. I, like Nicole, (who has collected her beads for many years), am “hooked” on Summersday beads.

You can see her marvellous beads on her website SUMMERSDAY . I have scrolled through from her first post, to her most recent many, many times. If you are tempted to buy some for yourself, I suggest that you join her mailing list and get updates when new beads are added.

Above, left to right, the beads are an Elfbead “Blush Monroe”, Trollbeads “Seabed”, Pandora cerise Droplet, “Peachy Keen” Summersday, Elfbead “Wish Blush Pure”, “Indian Summer” Summersday, Pandora Droplet, Trollbeads “Sea Bed” and “Blush Monroe”, Elfbead.

I love Birgit’s choice of vibrant, intense use of coloured glass as well as her delicate and more subtle use of colour.

Above,  all but one are Birgit’s beads, (the top bead on the second strand from the left, is a Trollbeads “Aurora Flowers”)

I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my next Summersday beads beadmail, and thank Birgit and Nicole for having added so much excitement and beadlove to my life.
